Our Journey
Welcome toMikudi™ Kolhapuri Chappal— where timeless Indian craftsmanship meets premium handmade luxury.
At Mikudi™, we believe traditional footwear is more than fashion — it is culture, heritage, and identity carried with pride. Inspired by the rich legacy of authentic Maharashtrian Kolhapuri craftsmanship, we create handcrafted genuine leather chappals designed for modern comfort while preserving the soul of traditional Indian artistry.
Every pair of our Kolhapuri chappals is carefully handmade by skilled Indian artisans using premium quality pure leather and traditional techniques passed down through generations. From intricate hand-finished detailing to luxurious leather textures, each design reflects the dedication, craftsmanship, and heritage of India’s artisan culture.

Craftsmanship
The Anatomy of Mikudi™ Craftsmanship
The creation of a Mikudi™ Kolhapuri begins with raw, open-grain leather cured using traditional Bagtan tanning—an eco-friendly, vegetable-based process utilizing natural babul (acacia) bark. This generation-old technique preserves the leather’s natural breathability while ensuring it gradually molds to the unique contours of your feet for bespoke comfort. Moving completely away from modern machinery and metal hardware, our master artisans use the traditional Sui-Dhaaga method. They use thick, hand-twisted leather cords to seamlessly stitch the upper straps directly into the multi-layered leather soles, creating an incredibly resilient bond built to withstand the test of time.
What truly defines our premium luxury is the intricate, geometric hand-weaving that decorates each pair. Artisans meticulously craft the Veni—the iconic central braid—by interlocking razor-thin strips of leather entirely by hand, relying solely on immense muscle memory to achieve flawless, uniform tension without a single drop of adhesive. Finished with the unmistakable Gonda (the signature hand-trimmed leather tassel at the toe loop) and lined with traditional sound-layers that emit a subtle, rhythmic crunch with every step, a Mikudi™ chappal is not merely footwear. It is a piece of wearable heritage, carrying the undeniable fingerprint of Indian artisan culture.
